That extra control

I managed to get around to adding the clew outhaul yesterday and moved the toestrap control from the cam cleat on the thwart to an inline clam cleat as mentioned before. As always, the continuous splicing was a challenge! But I tried the new controls out today and they did a good job.

The easy bit was the inline toestrap control. Luckily Clive Eplett was passing by and suggested an improvement - put the free end back through the eye on the toestrap to keep it out of the way. This worked 👍 and the end result looks like this (tricky to take photos in the bottom of the boat though) which leaves the cleat on the thwart free for the clew outhaul control line.

To get the new control line working I shackled two extra blocks on either side of the existing ones at the base of the mast...

...which looks from this like it might not work - but when the control line was sorted out was just fine...

and the new control line (on the outside here) goes back down the boat to the pulley on the floor near the forward toestrap anchor point and then up to the cleat on the thwart (as in the first photo). Job done ⛵
