Solo Builders

More Solo geekery 😉 but I genuinely wondered which builders made a lot of Solos. Apart from the obvious of Winder of course. So I did some trawling through the Solo Register to get some stats. It isn't easy, as some builder names appear in comments as well as the "builder" column. And this isn't supposed to be comprehensive - there are a number of builders missing as I only had so long to go through the names. But this is where I am so far. It was interesting for me - I had no idea Jim Stone built more Solos than Steve Boon, for example, though Steve is unique in having made a success of building both wooden and FRP Solos. Anyway, enjoy...

  1. Hi Ian. From my records I built 170 wood and 17 composites (wood decks on my own FRP hull). Still sailing 4927 second last woodie built originally for an old friend in 2008. Last Solo I built was a Woodie 5648 in 2016. Now retired.

  2. Thanks for the info Tony - I have updated the table. I am a bit worried that the Solo Register is still down though - that was really useful.
